Fortune Cookie website gains RNIB accessibility award
21 December 2006
Fortune Cookie, ranked one of the UK's top digital agencies, has received RNIB's coveted 'See it Right' award for web accessibility.
Fortune Cookie's website at www.fortunecookie.co.uk conforms to international guidelines for web accessibility that make it easier for disabled people to use the site.
Fortune Cookie has already guided more public organisations and private businesses to RNIB 'See it Right' success than any other digital agency in the UK.
Fortune Cookie's Managing Director Justin Cooke said, "We're really honoured to receive RNIB's 'See it Right' Award for the Fortune Cookie website. At Fortune Cookie we put accessibility at the heart of our process. We create accessible, findable, beautiful websites that are on brand, on time and on budget for big brands such as Legal and General, Kuoni and FT Business.
"The Fortune Cookie website meets the same high standards of accessible design that our clients expect of the sites that we build for them."

"The Fortune Cookie website meets the same high standards of accessible design that our clients expect of the sites that we build for them. We have already helped several of our own clients - including Passenger Focus www.passengerfocus.org.uk - to achieve the high standards of accessibility that RNIB expects."
The RNIB award forms a crucial part of Fortune Cookie's strategy to become the world's premiere digital agency. In November, accessibility expert Julie Howell joined Fortune Cookie after 12 years leading web accessibility campaigns at RNIB
Speaking about her decision to join the agency, Howell said, "Fortune Cookie was the obvious choice. Every site Fortune Cookie builds is accessible to disabled people. Fortune Cookie's contribution to a more accessible web is changing the online experience of the UK's 10 million disabled people and helping businesses reach a market worth £80bn per annum."
In a further move to improve the accessibility of its website, Fortune Cookie has added Texthelp's 'Browsealoud' technology to the site. Visitors to the site who have reading disabilities such as dyslexia and the seven million people in the UK who have low literacy can download the Browsealoud plug-in to hear the content of the Fortune Cookie site read aloud in a synthetic voice.
