The brief:

ebookers.com is a leading pan-European online travel agency specialising in worldwide travel. They offer a wide range of travel products including a choice of over 250 airlines, more than 86,000 hotels, holidays, car hire and insurance.

 

We were asked for an innovative iPad app that would inspire customers whilst offering value, and increase recognition of their brand amongst the public and press in order to generate more hotel bookings.

The work:

Fortune Cookie developed the first ever social media travel guide application. ebookers Explorer pulls together socially-generated content from across the internet, tailored to the destination and activity the user is looking to explore.

The groundbreaking app delivers personalised content in an easily digestible travel magazine format.  Flickr photographs, YouTube videos, Twitter tweets, Google blog posts and hotel information are combined, allowing users to access and share all the latest information about their chosen destination. There is currently no other application that does this.

ebookers Explorer offers real travellers a completely unique proposition, and looks as good as the user experience it delivers.  Not only is the app itself original, the content is too, with new information pulled for every user visit. It remains aspirational, inspirational and fresh no matter how many times you search.

The app sits comfortably in the Top 5 travel apps around the world and has a customer rating of 4 out of 5. It has achieved fantastic press coverage with glowing reviews in the Guardian, the Independent, Brand Republic, Travel Weekly and Travolution to name a few.
