The brief:

Calculating the value of your home contents can be a bit ‘finger-in-the-air’; estimate too little and you will not be covered, too much and you’re paying over the odds. A Legal & General (L&G) survey of over 4,000 people revealed 15% of Brits have no idea how much it would cost to replace the contents of their home, while over 50% underestimated the value of their contents.

 

From a requirement to support the customer better and funnel more prospects to get a quote for home insurance, we proposed the ‘L&G House’…

The work:

Taking an innovative, user-centred approach to a mundane problem, Fortune Cookie built a 3D house for users to tour… an experience a world away from the onerous spreadsheet-based lists currently offered by other insurers

Knowing that the challenge was to engage users to the end, we employed cutting edge motion graphics techniques, allowing users to explore the house.. swooping effortlessly from room to room totting up the value of all their contents. As well as the more obvious items such and TVs and white goods, the application prompts users to the bathroom cabinet, the garden and even the loft; it’s the small and forgotten that together can be expensive to replace!

A house journey can be saved and returned to at any point. A final screen shows the total value of the prospective customer’s home, allows them to send the results to a partner or friend, and delivers them to L&G’s home contents quote process.

The whole process of calculating the value of your contents and getting it insured is no longer just a case of filling out a form. This approach is involving and enjoyable and ensures users have the right amount of cover.
