European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

The brief:

With its goal of encouraging open market economies in Europe and to promote a true entrepreneurial spirit in central and eastern parts of the continent, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) needed a website that spoke its language – a voice of openness, encouragement and assistance for business in the entire region.

As an international organisation with 63 members, including 61 countries, the European Community and European Investment Bank, it was imperative that the site be relevant for its diverse range of audiences.

The work:

Fortune Cookie began by completely immersing itself in understanding the EBRD as a business and organisation, including its audiences.

To manage the information architecture challenges we created tailored and intuitive experiences optimised for various audiences. To help EBRD develop future content we worked closely with Aptus to deliver an enterprise-level content management system using Documentum – this was delivered on time and on budget.

Every step of the development process was measured through user testing, peer comparison studies, with consistent improvements from before and after.

The results:

The new EBRD website includes:

a new homepage, with instantly recognisable and understandable information on the EBRD’s mission, aims and activities, including flash elements to engage visitors
clear information that showcases the results the EBRD has achieved and the impact its work has on real people and places
a complete design revamp including overhauling of information architecture for improved navigation and scope for new content delivery tools, including video and podcasts
a modern, clear look and feel that exceeds usability and accessibility standards
